Y K Agrotech Pvt Ltd was established to improve the marketing and supply chain of organic fruits, vegetables, herbs, and exotic produce from the Himalayan region, mainly from Lahoul district [HP] and Ladakh [UT]. This area, situated at an altitude of over 13,000 square feet, is known for its abundance of organic, pesticide-free, chemical-free, mineral-rich exotic fruits and vegetables.

Seabuckthorn berries, apricots, apples, pomegranates, plums, cherries, etc. are some of the exotic fruits grown in the region. Fully organic, high-grade vegetables are also grown in large quantities. Best-quality seed potatoes, hybrid barley, and high-grade quinoa are also grown in good quantities.

Sea Buckthorn

Sea buckthorn juice and oil have been used for thousands of years as a natural remedy against various ailments. It is extracted from the berries, leaves, and seeds of the sea buckthorn plant (Hippophae Rhamnoides), which is a small shrub that grows at high altitudes in the Northwest Himalayan region. Sometimes referred to as the holy fruit of the Himalayas.

Seabuckthorn juice contains 35-56 mg/100 ml and Aonla contains 478.5 mg/100 ml, the value of Seabuckthorn as a source of vitamin C is apparent. It is estimated that there is enough vitamin C in the berries of Seabuckthorn plants across the world to meet the dietary requirements of the entire human population. Besides vitamin C, the juice also contains vitamin A, vitamin E, Riboflavin, Niacin, Pantothenic acid, vitamin B6, and vitamin B2.

The concentration of vitamins B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, C, and E is much higher than in other fruits such as apricot, banana, mango, or,ange and peach prescience of these vitamins in highquantitiestheirndicates its strong antioxidant property. Seabuckthorn juice is rich in various free amino acids, 18 kinds of free amino acids have been n detected in the juice of which eight are essential for the human body. Seabuckthorn seed is a source of valuable oil characterized by high oleic acid content and one to one ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Besides, it also contains omega-7 and omega-9 fatty acids.

Apricot is one of the best-known temperate fruit tree species. There are many different uses for apricots. It is enjoyed as fresh fruit, but a large portion of the worldwide production is preserved primarily by drying. Sweet apricot kernel is used for edible purpose and seed oil are often considered more valuable than apricots grown for fruit. Seed oil finds application in several industries such as pharmaceuticals, food, and cosmetics.

Ladakh is the biggest apricot producer in India. With a total production of 15,789 tonnes, it accounts for over 62 % of the apricot production of the country. However, the bulk of the apricot produced is consumed locally and only a small quantity is sold outside the region in dried form.
